As an “Engineer in Art,” Ivan Mestrovic creates minimalist sculptures that merge art, science, and engineering. Through simple forms, empty space, and refined materials such as marble, granite, and gold, he explores balance, structure, and the limits of physical possibility. His signature egg-shaped works highlight the relationship between form and space, offering a precise and contemporary vision of sculpture.

Ivan Mestrovic is a Croatian artist born in 1979, whose multidisciplinary path spans music, athletics, business, architecture, and contemporary art.
In the 1980s, he developed a passion for electric guitar, studying and emulating artists such as Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, and Chris Rea. This early fascination evolved into a lifelong interest, leading him to build an extensive collection of Fender Stratocasters, including rare artist signature editions.
Alongside music, Mestrovic pursued athletics and became a high-jump champion of his generation. His athletic career later evolved into a successful venture in sports business and management. At the same time, he studied law at the University of Zagreb and began his entrepreneurial journey early, co-founding a logistics startup that he sold to an international investment fund in 2008. Following this milestone, he relocated to Dubai to expand his professional and creative pursuits.
Before fully dedicating himself to sculpture, Mestrovic expressed his creativity through architecture and design. His projects include The White House Villa, the Villa Borelli resort complex, and yacht designs developed in collaboration with Sasga Yachts, such as BRMM BRMM and BORELLI. Among his most significant achievements is the Pampas Football Stadium in Osijek, reflecting his long-standing engagement with structural design and spatial concepts.
Today, Mestrovic creates his sculptures in studios he calls ArtLabs, located across Monaco, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary, and Croatia. Within these spaces, he pushes the limits of physics through innovative and conceptual work. His artistic language is rooted in minimalism, where simplicity, empty space, and clarity become essential tools. By eliminating unnecessary elements, he creates compositions that feel both powerful and refined, allowing each form to stand in balance with its surrounding space.
Deeply influenced by architecture and natural forces, as well as by figures such as Oscar Niemeyer and Isay Weinfeld, Mestrovic has developed a distinctive approach that bridges art and science. His large, futuristic, egg-shaped sculptures—crafted from materials such as marble, granite, and gold—explore tension, weight, and structural precision. Works like Blanco Macael Brazilian Blue Granite demonstrate his ability to merge contrasting materials into a cohesive, technologically driven composition.
A defining feature of his work is the use of subtle focal points, such as the signature gold line seen in pieces like Bianco Carrara – Gold Egg. These minimal interventions guide the viewer’s eye while reinforcing the dialogue between presence and absence. Through this balance of material, space, and form, Mestrovic continues to push the boundaries of contemporary sculpture.
