Metis Atash Art: Swarovski Crystal Sculptures
May 02 2021
About Metis Atash
Originally from Germany, Metis’s background is in political science and economics. After successfully managing an investor relations company in Munich, she transitioned to pursue a career as a full-time artist. Dedicating herself to her craft, she has conceptualized and created a striking collection of sculptures that combine pop art aesthetics with the ancient teachings of Daoism. Metis’s primary artistic quest is to elevate herself spiritually and, in her own words, “create oneness with herself and others.” Applying her vision as an artist advances her own understanding of spirituality. It is her hope that, through this, she also enhances the life journey of others.
Swarovski Crystal Sculptures
Each Metis Atash sculpture is infused with the energy of the moment in which they were created. Adorned in thousands of Swarovski crystals, Metis’s creations are a stunning visual experience; a perfect mix of traditional subjects combined with modern styles.
While her body of work consists of a variety of contemporary inspired buddha sculptures, her collection also includes elephant figures and multicolored Matryoshka dolls.
The Creative Process
Inspired by the meditative energy of Bali, each sculpture’s model is molded by hand before being sealed in resin. Both fiberglass and clay sculptures are then intuitively hand-painted. The painted designs range from free-flowing patterns to tributes of artwork from iconic artists like Piet Mondrian. The final step involves meticulously adorning each sculpture with genuine Swarovski crystals. The number of crystals used in each sculpture varies from 1000-500,000, depending on the size and complexity of the work.
Metis Atash Art
Atash’s pieces are meant to be perceived as the mirror of the human soul. They personify life’s duality and the merging of our inner beings with our physical selves. Taking inspiration from Eastern philosophy, Atash’s art focuses on nature, the relationship between humanity and a higher power, health and longevity, as well as action through inaction to produce harmony with the universe.
Metis Atash art has previously been exhibited in galleries worldwide. The latest in her dazzling collections is now available to view at all Eden Gallery locations in North America.
