An integral part of understanding how the Art and Fashion industry exist together is to comprehend how the two dominating industries work hand-in-hand, and have been for centuries. Traditional artists produce not only visually stimulating but thought provoking pieces and messages throughout their works, an art piece is simply a moot point without understanding meaning. Whereas Fashion designers focus on the beauty of a piece, the elegance and construction behind an item of clothing.

Fashionable Art

Contemporary and highly famed graffiti artist Alec Monopoly, creatively and meticulously combines the two aspects in his works. His artwork titled ‘Chanel Audrey Hepburn Glasses’ depicts the iconic Audrey Hepburn and her impact on the Fashion industry in the critically acclaimed movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’. The use of Chanel throughout the film was used to convey elegance and impeccable taste while maintaining Audrey’s youthful and playful character. Additionally, Alec is well-known to challenge himself in his graffiti style by incorporating fashion pieces such as the illusive Hermes Birkin bag. Painting his staple Monopoly Man character on these bags, not only is controversial but challenges the stereotypes of luxury fashion - in that traditional luxury fashion is changing continuously with contemporary artists and their interpretation of what modern art can be.
Artist Fred Allard works almost exclusively with high-end brands in his resin sculpted handbag artworks. His perception of Fashion is shown through his compressed luxury branded pieces, dribbled over with resin and molded into handbags. His piece ‘To the Moon and Back’ shows the new color scheme of Louis Vuitton created by the late Virgil Abloh, who revolutionized the fashion industry in his successful attempt to mend and nurture a relationship between street art, fashion, and luxury. The LV bag inside the resin sculpture holds and overflows with various golden soda cans, and his artworks often show unlikely items mixed with branded items.
SN, exclusive Eden Gallery artist and photographer, utilizes Fashion in his majestic butterfly artworks. His artworks often include beautiful women, covered in dresses made up of beautifully colored butterflies. SN tries to incorporate aspects of high fashion and more importantly, aesthetic, and the understanding of life and death and how to re-discover beauty in life in simplicity. His intentions lie very similarly with the mindset of a fashion designer, in that the meticulous work that goes in behind a piece, is what makes it all that more worth it.
Fashion and art will forever coincide an existence together whether consciously or subconsciously, and greatly inspire all who encounter it. To explore more artworks by Eden Gallery artists, take a look at the online website or visit a gallery near to you today.
