Alec Monopoly’s Street Art Makes It to Eden Fine Art Gallery in Mykonos.

Monopoly I$land - July 2018
Updated: July 31 2017
High-end Graffiti and Street art might sound like a contradiction until you’ve seen Alec Monopoly’s one-of-a-kind collection of paintings and sculpture. His latest exhibition ‘MONOPOLY I$LAND’ combines icons of luxury with down-to-earth spray paint to create works that live on the edge of indulgence. The opening was one of a string of celebrations marking the opening of Eden Fine Art’s boutique gallery in Nammos Village, Mykonos. Hundreds of guests gathered to explore the gallery’s large outdoor garden, full of colorful, emblematic paintings and sculptures, while Eden’s intimate indoor gallery space featured both classic and new artworks by the artist. Event-goers enjoyed pastries by world-famous Yazid Ichermrahen, including a 100 kg sculpture tagged by the artist himself, pyrotechnics, and music, turning the exhibition into a celebration of art, music, and celebrity.

Alec Monopoly rocketed to fame after the 2008 recession with symbolic paintings of Mr. Monopoly on the streets of New York, and is now breaking down public walls and entering private spaces with graffiti-inspired canvas paintings. While some of his work can still be found on the street, like his Monopoly Union Jack in the UK’s Camden Market, much of Monopoly’s collection incorporates luxury, designer details in artwork you can take home.
