“Squaw” challenges perceptions of culture, identity, and the human body. In this provocative work, the model transitions from wearing a traditional Native American dress and headdress to being nude, with only the headdress remaining. The lenticular photography technique allows the viewer to witness this transition as they move, shifting the narrative between cultural symbolism and the rawness of the human form. Plaisance’s powerful use of this technique underscores the changing perceptions of heritage, gender, and personal identity in contemporary society.
